The world of pharmaceuticals can seem inaccessible and shrouded in secrecy. With a plan to open Novartis Pavillon, a new learning, event and exhibition space on their flagship Basel Campus, life sciences leader Novartis needed fresh thinking that could transform their reputation and encourage people to discover the power of medical progress.

Opening a pharmaceutical giant up to the world
The team at Novartis have a contagious passion for making a positive impact on people’s lives. This drive inspired Encounter Progress, a creative idea and campaign platform that positions Novartis Campus as a place where life-changing work is developed, and Novartis Pavillon as a space where everyone can engage with and be inspired by the wonders of medicine.
To announce Novartis Pavillon’s opening, we created a series of adverts that ran across Basel – including posters at transport hubs, films in cinemas and animations on the city’s trams – that invite viewers to discover the steps toward medical discovery. Our short film explores the power of progress, pairing breakthroughs in medicine with a script that simultaneously speaks to the impact they had on healthcare and the impact progress has on us personally.
Together, our work shows Novartis Campus and Novartis Pavillon as places where, just like scientists at work, the constantly curious can make life-changing revelations, little by little.
Inviting everyone in
We created a short film that proudly announced Novartis’ new open campus, highlighting the benefits of bringing new perspectives and new voices into Basel’s most impressive life sciences community. With an emotive, optimistic script and smart, charming animation, it’s opening campus residents – both new and current – up to a new world of opportunities.
Opening up
As Novartis opened up their Basel Campus as a workspace for external life sciences organisations, we framed the space as a bright and welcoming hub of medical progress, directing photography, designing brochures and creating a website to highlight its landmark architecture, areas of open greenery and collaborative spirit.
Steps toward progress
Our work for Novartis Pavillon included an advertising campaign that features digital activations, animations, posters and short films – shown in both English and German – that celebrate the steps towards medical progress and encourage the people of Basel to come and join the journey.
The sounds of science
We elevated the Novartis Pavillon experience by shaping the sounds that visitors hear inside the venue – developing mixtapes and soundscapes that deepen visitors’ levels of engagement and strengthen the Pavillon’s atmospheric character and ambience.
