Committee For Melbourne 30/LOVE Annual Dinner

April 29, 2015

The Committee for Melbourne is an apolitical, not-for-profit, member network that unites a cross-section of Melbourne’s leaders and organisations to work together and enhance Melbourne’s economic, social and environmental future. 2015 marks the 30th anniversary of the Committee’s establishment and Wink (well, our lucky GM Anthony) was thrilled to be invited to celebrate this milestone at the 30/LOVE Annual Dinner.

As guests of Melbourne and Olympic Parks, Wink was part of history being the first guests to dine on Margaret Court Arena hence the name of the evening 30/LOVE. So as I was literally dining on Margaret Courts court, the 30 second rule definitely applied to any dropped food...

On arrival we were greeted with champagne and a performance of “Un bel di vedremo” from Madame Butterfly by Teresa Daddy. Upon being seated “on court” we were welcomed by our Master of Ceremonies, Craig Willis and the audience was addressed by Scott Tanner, Chair, Committee of Melbourne and The Hon. Steve Bracks AC.

We were served entrees of Smoked Chinook salmon and John Dory whilst mains were options of Duo of lamb and Rosemary and preserved lemon chicken breasts. Desert was a standout with a selection of petite deserts a regional and international cheese selection. All of which was matched superbly with a selection of Australian Red And White wines from Seppelt Salinger, Penfolds, T’Gallant and Wolf Blass.

However the highlight of the evening was the Melbourne-based performing arts company that choreographed a game of Aussie Rules using a unique elevated medium.

Thanks to The Committee of Melbourne for a fantastic night and of course to our wonderful hosts Melbourne and Olympic Parks.
