Technicolour Tech Companies

August 24, 2015

Whoa there tech brands.

We’ve gone from blue’s to the full spectrum. Don’t get me wrong I love the colour, I’m even enjoying the move to more interesting typefaces. But, but…

Everybody’s doing it (not just tech companies). Swap a few logos and do we know who’s who anymore? Tech companies are constantly playing the field of same same rather than moving as fast as their technology. They are notorious for getting too comfortable doing the same thing, with minor tweaks here and there. But in the technology industry, where revolutionary ideas drive the next big growth areas, it is critical to consistently innovate to stay relevant. Of course a good tech brand will sell good tech products but consumers are looking for the experience, the memorability and a brand that looks and feels like something they want to be a part of.

So this trend. Was it Xbox’s fault? Was it the super cool BeoPlay's designs? Or was it Google? Remember Apple’s technicolour apple brandmark? They've all moved on by the way. Whoever started this has obviously inspired top tech brands (most recently Logitech) worldwide but as a customer who do you love and who do you remember?

Don’t get me wrong I’m still excited by the use of the multi-colour palette - especially for Gay Pride and brands using it in an industry where no one else is. But there is so much we can do with this, what do you think will be the next evolution? We know (wink wink), want to know?
