Canary Wharf is a district that has undergone a mighty reinvention, seeing it transform into a multifaceted place offering theatres, community initiatives and waterside greenery. Shifting perceptions of it as purely a centre for banking and corporate hustle required a strategic direction and creative campaign that could share this new perspective and invite everyone in.

Canary Wharf
Changing perceptions for London’s most ambitious district
The Canary Wharf team had two choices: create a new story that attempts to distract audiences from what they’ve seen before, or engage with the narrative head on.
Through conversations with internal stakeholders, visitors and residents, we saw an opportunity for Canary Wharf to reclaim and redefine its business legacy to encompass something broader and more human. To become the place where ambition lives at every level – a mindset of momentum shared between global businesses, environmental experts and community volunteers alike.
The idea of a more inclusive style of ambition became the driving force for the entire campaign. We identified eight advocates who have found or furthered their personal ambition in Canary Wharf – restaurateurs, scientists, set designers and entrepreneurs who exemplify the district’s offer – and brought their stories to life through photography, film, quotes and attention-grabbing headlines.
With billboards rolling out across London’s busiest transport hubs, adverts in some of the UK’s most widely-read publications, and a film that communicates the district’s new vision of ambition – as well as refreshed graphic elements and tone of voice – Canary Wharf has the tools to transform its reputation, and a framework to build from long into the future.
Advocates for ambition
Our campaign focuses on interviews and energetic, editorial-style photography of eight people – from business owners to community volunteers – who have found or furthered their ambition at Canary Wharf.
Speaking at the right level
With spirited headlines, relatable images and an approach that favours the human scale over top-down messaging, we’re shifting Canary Wharf away from corporate cliches and towards an ambition everyone can connect with.
